Hey friends, so today I wanted to share with you how I did a makeover for my master bedroom on a budget !
First thing I want to confess that we barely slept in this room, because the way our house is designed, the master bedroom is located on the top floor by itself. The other bedrooms, including the kids’ is on the main floor and on the other side of the house. So you can only imagine how hard it was to sleep on a completely different floor and side of the house when you have little kids who wake up at night. We slept in the guest room for a very long time but we decided to "graduate" to the master bedroom!
At the time, it was nice and gave the room a cozy feeling but then it started to make the room look and feel so much smaller than it already is. So as usual the first thing I did was brainstorm ideas and make an inspiration board on Pinterest.
Next thing we did was sell all the furniture and paint the room. A fresh coat of paint especially in this colour, made this space look massive! Then I found an amazing rug on Wayfair at the time it was on sale for $140. Believe it or not this was my first Wayfair purchase and it was a really good one.
I decided on the Ikea white dresser for a few reasons. Not only is it well priced, but also the design possibilities are endless. I could easily paint the knobs a different colour or even change them completely if I ever decide on it. Another idea is to paint the entire dresser a different colour, or add textures or accents on it.
After a ton of research for the perfect night stands, I ended up getting the Ikea ones as well and let me tell you, I’m so in love with them! Not only are they so simple and modern, they were only $25 each and super easy to assemble! Another reason why I chose these is because I can spray paint them which ever colour I want!
The bed was something I’ve been eyeing for years but we never got it because we wanted to wait until we actually used this room. My covers are from Homesense (pre-lockdown). Most of my cushion covers in my house are from Amazon, because I've found that it's so much better than buying new cushions and adding them to my collection, instead I can alternate the covers depending on the style I'm going for. The one in the front is from Homesense.
I've shared the link for my stand up mirror before but I will include it in here as well. I am still so happy with this find because it is so similar to the one I wanted from Urban Barn but that one is $350 and this one is only $70!
I wanted to do a gallery wall of family photos but Ikea's frames were all sold out in the size I'd been looking for, so I found a cheaper alternative and was able to do a quick curbside pick up the same day! These Jysk frames were on sale for $7.99 when I purchased them but the price is still unreal, check them out, you don't want to miss out on these! My husband and I took the photos, with my phone and printed them at Costco.
Lastly, the chandelier is from Amazon and it’s something that you need to get your hands on if you’re into this trend as well and know how much these usually go for. This one is affordable, and even more beautiful in person. I've also linked another one from Rona which is currently on sale for $89.
Now the decorating part, again, since we are in lockdown mode, I’m limited to what I can do, so I’m waiting for the stores to open up again so I can finalize this room.
Your room is beautiful! Loving your headboard 😍
